Sans Recette runs on fifteen seats and a blackboard, on Beaubien East in La Petite-Patrie, a few minutes from Jean-Talon Market. Maxime Latapie and Baptiste Boyer met working at Portus 360 and opened it to work the way small family restaurants in France do: one of them in the kitchen, the other in the room, no one else. Latapie, who cooked at Elena and Lundis au soleil, writes the menu around whatever the market gives him that day, which keeps it to a handful of starters, a couple of mains, cheese and a dessert. Boyer handles the floor and the wine, poured by the glass or in quarter and half-litre carafes. He also built the room, largely second-hand, into something closer to an old French bistro than a new one. Bar seats are kept for walk-ins.
