Résumé
The former Institut des Sourdes-Muettes in Montreal, a historically significant site, is being transformed into social and affordable housing. This project aims to address the city's housing crisis by providing 297 housing units at below-market rates, with priority given to families and people with disabilities. Preservation of the heritage building is an integral part of the development, maintaining its architectural significance while serving modern needs. This initiative reflects a growing trend of repurposing historic sites to meet current social challenges.
