Montreal Institute of Contemporary Art (MICA)

Montreal Institute of Contemporary Art (MICA) is an evolving site of exchange where art intersects with politics, collaboration, and cultural accountability. Located in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyaang/Montreal on unceded Kanien’kehá:ka territory, process and product are treated in equal measure here. Its programming favours critically engaging work and long-term relationships with artists, curators, and collectives engaged in the urgent, the experimental, and the socially entangled. Exhibitions are often accompanied by public programs, publications, and research initiatives, all guided by a commitment to critical dialogue and institutional transparency.
The gallery is part of a larger network of artist-driven, de-colonial, and justice-oriented spaces in Montreal and beyond, making room for creative and political risk while centring work that resists easy classification. It’s not just about what’s on the walls; it’s about who gets to speak, and how.
