Knafé Stop

A counter-service spot on Sainte-Catherine West, Knafé Stop is run by a Palestinian owner who makes each order fresh to order, a process that takes around 20 minutes and produces results regulars describe as tasting like the real thing. The menu is focused: two styles of knafeh, Nabulsi and vermicelli, available in small ($12) or medium ($28), each offered with either cheese or ashta cream filling, and served with syrup on the side. The Nabulsi version is soft and chewy; the vermicelli is crunchier. Both are best eaten immediately.
The space is take-out only and compact, decorated with Palestinian motifs, and the owner, named Saad by one reviewer and Mohamed by another, is consistently cited for his warmth and willingness to walk first-timers through the menu. A small for two is filling; a medium is generous. Palestinian coffee is also available.
