Canal Lounge

Montreal has exactly one floating bar, and it's moored at the Atwater quay, a fifty-year-old Canadian bateau-mouche restored into a cocktail lounge that never leaves the dock. Not sailing anywhere is the point. You board, you order an Aperol spritz (the house claims the best in town, and the sunset over the canal argues their case), and you watch the water do the moving. The menu runs to cocktails of the nautical persuasion, a tinto de verano, and Mediterranean snacks like stuffed vine leaves and dry-cured chorizo, with the full cocktail list available in non-alcoholic versions. The boat is small and the house rules reflect it: groups of six maximum, no reservations, no buyouts, 18 and up, and everyone aboard orders at least one drink. Worth planning an evening around while the weather allows.
