Pit Caribou

Founded in 2007 in L’Anse-à-Beaufils, Pit Caribou has become one of Quebec’s most recognizable craft breweries, known for a production style that’s as unfiltered as its Gaspesian roots. Its beers—now brewed by a 40-person team producing over a million litres annually—carry the salt air and independence of the region. Despite weathering financial turbulence in 2024, the microbrewery remains standing, with eyes on growth in non-alcoholic offerings and distribution. The Montreal outpost on Rachel Street—run independently from the parent company—functions as a kind of embassy for Gaspé’s brewing scene, pouring limited-run kegs and rotating guest taps from Quebec’s east. If you’re after canned nostalgia and cold truth in equal measure, it’s a place that makes you feel like you’ve travelled further than the Plateau.
