Monkland’s Typhoon Lounge has been open since 1997, with the purpose of becoming a proper neighbourhood bar—one it has since fulfilled. One of the older fixtures in Monkland Village, the menu has grown well past standard pub fare. Its burgers come in more than 10 varieties, some topped with fried halloumi, others stacked high with fried onions, maple-smoked bacon, Monterey Jack, and spicy mayo. On the poutine side, buffalo chicken and Philly steak round out the menu. For drinks: a solid cocktail list, a short selection of wine, and beer on draft.
