Aesop (Old Montreal)

The Australian skincare house Aesop has occupied the ground floor of the Harrison-Stephens building on rue Saint-Paul Ouest since establishing its Old Montreal outpost, and the interior design takes full stock of the host building's layered history as residence, boot factory, warehouse and haberdashery. The in-house Design Department leaned into the neighbourhood's industrial character through off-the-shelf construction materials: L-shaped steel bars, common brick and fibre cement board make up a utilitarian palette softened by a waxed canvas curtain and a pair of Fritz Hansen Pelikan side chairs. The imperfection of original brickwork and timber carries through to the unfinished quality of every surface. As with all Aesop locations, the product offer spans plant-based and laboratory-formulated skincare, body care, fragrance and home formulations, all vegan and Leaping Bunny certified.
