Chez MaBelle

About
Chez MaBelle sits behind a yellow façade on avenue du Parc, marked by a mural from Gavin W. Sewell. The name comes from the first syllables of the owners' children's names, and the kitchen works between Turkish, Mediterranean and European habits. Turkish coffee is made properly, including a mastic version, alongside filter coffee and tea. The counter holds scones served with cheese spread and jam, pogaça, açma, mosaic cake and rice pudding, plus viennoiseries baked in the morning. Savoury runs to kısır, mercimek köfte, soup, panini and grilled cheese. Lasagna stayed on after the space changed hands: the room was Les Lasagnes du Plateau, and enough regulars asked that the recipe survived the transition. Everything is made in house, and the owners are usually the ones behind the counter serving it.
