H8S Bar à Café started as a family project: accountant Valérie Léger, her partner Matthieu Le Moeligou, and her brother Simon Léger couldn't find a decent cup in their neighbourhood, so they opened one themselves.

They brought in Phil & Sebastian, the Calgary roaster known for paying producers properly and shipping in small, fresh-roasted lots, and had the Canadian latte art champion come train their baristas before the doors opened.

The space is small, but the coffee program is serious. Snacks skew vegan and gluten-free, local products line the shelves, and in warm weather the terrasse spills out onto Saint-Joseph alongside next-door neighbour Quai des Glaces. The park across the street faces the lake directly. Order something cold and find a bench.
