Hanyang Jokbal built its reputation in Ontario before landing in the Golden Square Mile, bringing Montreal a menu devoted to a dish few restaurants here attempt: jokbal, pork hock braised for hours until tender enough to slice. The specialty comes in original, spicy, garlic, BBQ, mala, and roasted versions, along with a cold preparation served with jellyfish and vegetables in sweet-and-sour sauce. Bossam, the braised pork belly counterpart, gets similar treatment, and half-and-half plates let tables sample both. Sharing formats dominate, with smaller rice plates and stone-bowl soups (gamjatang, soontofu) for solo diners, plus sides running from kimchi-bacon pancake to tteokbokki and soondae. The family-founded chain has been operating in Canada since 2019.
