L'Honnête Kid shares a room on Marie-Anne East in the Plateau with Thé Jinjin, the tea counter run by Elliot Latendresse's partner, Wenhui Zhang. Tea holds the daytime and the kitchen takes over at night. Latendresse trained at the ITHQ, travelled widely in China and worked in Korea, and cooks Chinese food without committing to a single region, mixing flavour profiles and running Quebec produce through Chinese technique when the season allows. Dough is worked by hand into noodles, wontons, pancakes and fritters. Plates are small and built for sharing: marinated cucumbers, cumin lamb skewers off the charcoal, you tiao with soy cream. The wine list leans playful and accessible, with Chinese spirits alongside. Seating is limited and reservations are taken only for groups of six or more.
