Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montreal
Sato Izakaya

About
Sato is a quietly confident izakaya on the Plateau that channels the feel of a Tokyo backstreet bar while adding its own Montréal edge. The atmosphere is warm and pared-back—soft lighting, counter seating, and a focus on the food. The menu leans into Japanese comfort staples with just enough room for invention: tonkotsu ramen with slow-cooked pork broth, crisp katsu fried in nama panko, flame-seared aburi sushi, and inari filled with spicy tuna or salmon. There’s also a vegan mushroom ramen for something rich without the meat. While rooted in tradition, Sato adds its own finesse—flavours are bold, plating is clean, and nothing feels out of place.
