La Piazza di Mano
About
Piazza di Mano turned the vacant lot at Ann and Ottawa into a seasonal public square, a partnership between the team behind Mano Cornuto and Mano Figa, MR-63's Corridor Culturel initiative, and the City of Montreal. The site is officially parc Mary-Griffin, a former parking lot expropriated in 2015 that got a retention basin in 2019 and little else since, the city having been waiting on CDPQ Infra to decide whether the Griffintown-Bernard-Landry REM station lands there. For now it holds a bocce court, red-and-white canopies and a shipping container serving food from Mano, gelato and Quebec beer and wine. Programming rotates between the partners: chess nights, tombola, live music, DJ sets. The square takes 60 to 200 people, more than either restaurant across the street can hold, and it operates through the warm months.
