For months, the shuttered doors of J’ai Feng had people lingering on Beaubien with questions. The sign said to stay tuned, but no one knew what was next for the Feng sisters—or the fiery bowls they were known for. The answer has finally arrived, and it’s called Nouilles Sauvette.

Operating out of the same address, this new street-level counter offers takeout-only mi xian noodles—served hot, sauced, and packed in oyster pails with a pair of chopsticks. The menu sticks to the essentials: ginger-scallion, sesame-peanut, and a new extra-spicy version of Anita Feng’s signature red chili oil. At 500g for $8, the portions are generous, the flavours uncompromising, and the vibe is all heart.

Designed to be simple, joyful, and fast, Nouilles Sauvette is a nod to the chef’s roots and her desire to keep feeding people—just in a different format. As Anita puts it: “You grab the noodles and fly away.”
