Mélisse

Mélisse takes its name from lemon balm — fresh, faintly medicinal, quietly restorative — and the kitchen delivers on that idea across every service. Caroline Desgagné opened the room on Rue William with a specific feeling in mind: generous but unpretentious, the kind of place that works for a date or a long family lunch without trying too hard at either. The brunch menu leans into the Mediterranean pantry — chakchouka with zaatar flatbread, mushrooms over çökelek and arugula, falafel with sumac mayo — alongside a Nordic shrimp tartine and a rotating pancake. Cocktails have the same wit as the food: a zaatar-syrup gin drink, a pear martini, a Bellini spiked with génépy. Daughter Salomé Médam handles the wine, which runs from solid classics to thoughtful naturals.
