La Grande Roue de Montréal

La Grande Roue de Montréal opened in September 2017 as part of the city's 375th anniversary celebrations, and has since become one of the more recognizable features of the Old Port skyline. At 60 metres, it holds the title of Canada's tallest Ferris wheel. The wheel runs year-round, with 42 climate-controlled cabins, each fitting up to eight people, designed by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma's Dutch Wheels division. On a clear day, the 360-degree view extends roughly 28 kilometres, taking in Old Montreal's rooftops, the St. Lawrence, Mont Royal, and the islands that hosted Expo 67. A VIP cabin with an Italian leather interior and a glass floor offers a longer ride. Each standard rotation runs about 20 minutes.
