Bobby’s doesn’t reinvent the neighbourhood bar—it reminds you why they mattered in the first place. Opened by a crew of longtime locals on Beaubien Ouest, this Mile Ex newcomer leans into the kind of warmth, wear, and honesty you used to find all over Montreal. Think pool tables under skylights, wood panelling, wallpaper, and a back room that feels like a cross between a bookie’s office and your uncle’s basement. Pabst, Sapporo, and no-BS cocktails flow behind the bar, while co-owner Dan Haber (Pretty Loose Videos, if you know) holds court with dry one-liners. Named after a late father and furnished with keepsakes from the owners’ own homes, Bobby’s carries a ghost or two—and wears it well. It’s not trying to be cool, which makes it the coolest new bar in the city. Just don’t ask for a double IPA.
