Fiesta Pilipino

Fiesta Pilipino opened in 1994. Tito Ed Vasquez started with homemade deliveries and small batches sold at local markets, testing pandesal, Spanish bread, pan de coco, and siopao before the bakery found its footing through word of mouth alone. That's still essentially how it operates.

The baked goods move fast—regulars know to call ahead for large orders—and the bubble tea has developed its own following. The shop also ships balikbayan boxes to the Philippines, quietly functioning as a community hub for the Filipino diaspora in a way that goes well beyond pastries.

Vasquez has spent decades funding youth basketball leagues in the neighbourhood, reasoning that the sport keeps kids off the streets the same way hockey keeps everyone else busy. The bread is the draw. The rest is just who he is.
