Martin-Luther-King Park

This park sits a few blocks from both Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela parks, in a neighbourhood where that kind of clustering makes a certain sense. The park itself is a hub: basketball and tennis courts, a soccer field, outdoor pool, wading pool, play fountains, pétanque, ping pong, a running track, and cross-country ski trails in winter. It's a full-season operation that draws the whole neighbourhood—kids from the Plaza, families from the towers on Côte-des-Neiges, healthcare workers from the hospitals up the hill.
The name of Martin Luther King Park came in 2019, a renaming from Kent Park championed by local councillor Magda Popeanu who noted that the Black community makes up a substantial part of the city's population.
