Momiji, the Otto Group’s latest venture, brings together its strengths in yakitori and sushi under one roof, offering a tightly curated menu of skewers, nigiri, and small plates that split the difference between precision and comfort. Designed by Zébulon Perron, the space shifts from bright, high-energy bar seating to a softer, more intimate back room, pairing clean lines with warm textures. Without access to charcoal, the kitchen leans into layered sauces and inventive toppings to push flavour forward. Dishes range from BC uni and Hokkaido scallops to cod cheeks, duck mazesoba, and a gyoza-stuffed chicken wing. A modest drink list of house cocktails and natural wines supports the food without overshadowing it. Located in Royalmount, Momiji makes a case for destination dining outside the usual downtown circuit.
