Théâtre Paradoxe is what happens when a neighbourhood church is given a second life without losing its first one. The former Notre-Dame-du-Perpétuel-Secours now functions as a multidisciplinary venue, but the stained glass, woodwork, and nave still shape the experience as much as the lighting rig. The space is run by Groupe Paradoxe, a social-enterprise organization that trains young adults for careers in technical production through paid, hands-on work inside the theatre itself. Environmental choices—LED systems, repurposed pews, strict waste management—are baked into the building’s operations, not added on later. Since opening in 2014, the venue has become a cultural anchor in the Sud-Ouest, equally comfortable hosting concerts, film shoots, conferences, and community events. It’s a rare site where heritage, training, and sustainability share the same stage.
