A Montreal institution since 1927, Waxman House has seen nearly a century of tuxedo fittings, wedding parties, and family milestones pass through its Park Avenue doors. What began with Willie and Paula Waxman—Polish immigrants with an eye for tailoring—has become a fourth-generation operation led by Billy Waxman, who grew up in the shop and now lives above it. While tuxedo rentals and made-to-measure suits remain the backbone of the business, Billy has reimagined the space as something more than a formalwear store. There’s Hershie’s Espresso Bar, named for his father, a barber’s chair by the window, and the kind of easy conversation that keeps people coming back. Part café, part clubhouse, part living legacy of Mile End.
