Brasserie du Bas-Canada

About

Gatineau has been trending in Quebec's craft beer conversation for a while now, and Brasserie du Bas-Canada is a big reason why. Founded by Gabriel Girard-Bernier and Marc-André Cordeiro-Lima, the independently owned brewery has built its reputation on two poles: aggressively hopped IPAs and decadent imperial stouts, with enough range on either side to keep things interesting. The tap list at any given time might include a double dry-hopped imperial IPA pushing past eight percent, a fruited sour, a kellerbier, and a Belgian tripel. Two tasting room locations in Gatineau give the brewery room to pour it all, with food to match. The name nods to the region's history. The beer looks squarely forward.
