La Petite-Patrie, Montreal
Mellön

About
Mellön takes its name from the Elvish word for "friend" in The Lord of the Rings, a fitting choice for a microbrewery built around conviviality. Opened in 2021 in Petite-Patrie, steps from Plaza St-Hubert, it's the project of childhood friends Alexandre Pontbriand and David Goudreau, who left marketing careers to brew professionally. The draft list stays short and rotates often, leaning on European-style lagers alongside hoppier options and the occasional sour, with several beers poured Czech-style for a dense, creamy head. The room channels a biergarten: long communal tables, plenty of greenery, counter service, and a garage door that opens onto a terrace in warmer months. Pizza by the slice from Pizza Toni and a snack menu round things out, and cans are available to go from the fridge.
