Olivier Brunelle started Palm Isle in Saint-Lambert in 2000, working the idea out while skating at a park, and the Montreal branch sits on rue Hochelaga in a neighbourhood he chose deliberately: several of the city's best skaters came out of it, the skate park is large, and the street spots have been there for years. Stock runs to decks, shoes and clothing, the sort of thing worth trying on before buying, with Nike SB, Vans, New Balance Numeric, Butter Goods, Carpet Company and Dime alongside Montreal's Studio and Palm Isle's own boards. Trucks, wheels, grip and hardware fill out the rest. The room works as more than a counter, a place to pick up tricks and meet people, and the shop throws parties, including one with producer Nicholas Craven DJing from the balcony.
