Montreal Olympic Park

Built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, the Olympic Park remains one of Montreal’s most ambitious—and debated—urban landmarks. Its centrepiece, the towering Stadium, still draws crowds for concerts, sporting events, and exhibitions, while the neighbouring Sports Centre hosts athletes from local kids to international contenders. The site’s most surreal feature, the Montréal Tower, leans at a sharper angle than Pisa and offers an unmatched view over the city. With more than four million visitors annually, the grounds have evolved into a strange-but-compelling blend of brutalist legacy, public programming, and architectural spectacle. Outdoor festivals and community events fill the Esplanade; biosciences, media, and tourism fuel activity year-round. Despite its rocky start, the Park is no longer just a relic of Olympic ambition—it’s a civic arena where past and future continue to spar, often under the same roof.
