Goza Café

Goza Café

About

Goza means something like "savor the moment" in Spanish, and this Mile End café on Saint-Viateur treats coffee accordingly. Owner Abraham Guillen, a Veracruz-born restaurateur trained at the ITHQ as a chef and sommelier, opened the shop in 2026 to connect Mexican coffee culture with Montreal. He roasts in-house, working directly with producers he knows personally in Mexico, Guatemala, and Ecuador, and presents coffee the way wine gets presented: terroir first. The house signature is a matcha horchata built on rice milk, cinnamon, and vanilla imported from Veracruz, made to his mother's recipe. A four-seat bar handles pour-overs, the affogato comes with house-made vanilla ice cream, and pastries arrive from Aube boulangerie and Mexican bakery Carlotta. The bright, plant-filled room extends to a terrace in warmer months.
