Neotokyo Nakagin

The second outpost of Yann Levy's retro-futuristic Japanese universe lands on Saint-Viateur East, and it's a looser, more convivial proposition than the downtown ramen bar that started it all. Named for the Nakagin Capsule Tower, Kisho Kurokawa's 1972 Metabolism movement landmark in Ginza that partly inspired the dystopian aesthetic of Blade Runner, the room channels that same cyberpunk spirit into something built for lingering: shareable izakaya plates, serious sashimi, and a curated selection of sake and wine.
Levy, who has travelled to Japan every year since 2012, designed the space himself, concrete and green leather softened by large windows and low evening light. The menu was developed in-house, with contributions from a chef at Rosela Sushi in New York. Expect seasonal specials and a lunch card with a konbini-inspired mini-mart as well.
