Les Grands Ballets Canadiens

Founded in Montreal in 1957 by Ludmilla Chiriaeff, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens is one of Canada's major ballet companies, balancing the great classical repertoire with a sustained commitment to contemporary work. Over the decades, the company has nurtured homegrown talents including James Kudelka, Édouard Lock, and Ginette Laurin, while commissioning work from choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek, and Jean-Christophe Maillot. Based at the Wilder Building in the Quartier des Spectacles, the company performs seasons that move between beloved story ballets and newer acquisitions, drawing an internationally recruited company of dancers to the stage of one of the city's most vital cultural addresses.
