Atelier Union

A ceramics studio operating out of Verdun since 2018, Atelier Union grew out of Basma's existing practice at Ceramik B., which she has run since 2007. Basma's own work is rooted in hand-building and traditional construction techniques, producing vessels and wall works from textured stoneware, and that sculptural sensibility informs the studio's teaching approach. Courses run in two formats: six-week sessions covering wheel-throwing or hand-building at three hours per week, and shorter single or limited sessions focused on specific techniques or projects. Instructors include working ceramicists with distinct practices, among them Jennifer Lys, known for her wheel-thrown tableware, and Christian, a graduate of the Maison des métiers d'art du Québec with over two decades of practice. All skill levels are welcome, and students are met at their own level within a shared curriculum.
