Canada Beergarden

Founded by graphic designer Lea Berger, Canada Beergarden imports the folding communal tables commonly found in German beer gardens and has quietly changed how people gather across Montreal’s patios, parks, and back alleys. Berger grew up between Germany and Chile before settling in Montreal, where she noticed something missing from the city’s outdoor culture: practical tables designed for sharing space.
Working with a social enterprise near Stuttgart that manufactures the steel frames, Berger brings the tables to Montreal herself, running the small operation with help from her family. Over the years, they’ve appeared at breweries, restaurants, and neighbourhood gatherings, from Mile End alley parties to busy terraces. Designed to fold, move easily, and seat strangers side by side, the tables encourage exactly what Berger hoped for: long conversations, shared bottles, and a little more spontaneity in the city’s public life.
