Quartier DIX30

Quartier DIX30 was built to solve a suburban problem: how to make shopping, dining, and entertainment feel less like an errand and more like a day out. Opened in phases starting in 2006 at the junction of Autoroutes 10 and 30, it’s often cited as Canada’s first lifestyle centre—designed as a walkable, downtown-style grid rather than a sealed-off mall. Over time, it’s grown into a dense mix of boutiques, chain retailers, restaurants, cinemas, hotels, offices, and large-format stores, with cultural and recreational anchors like the ALT Hotel and the CN Sports Complex.
It’s unapologetically big and pragmatic, built for South Shore life and car access, but now tied into the REM and local transit. Less urban village than engineered hub, DIX30 reflects how suburban Montreal actually moves, shops, eats, and gathers today.
