Shakti Rock Gym

Opened in 2012, Shakti touts itself as the city’s original bouldering gym—and still one of its most distinct. Set in the Mile End’s industrial grid, it runs on community energy more than corporate polish. The space isn’t huge, but it’s dense with over a hundred problems at any time, refreshed often enough to keep regulars humble. Beyond the walls, Shakti doubles as a small social hub: queer nights, friendly comps, and the occasional drytooling event make it as much about belonging as biceps. Add a Kilter Board, a crack wall (the only one in town), and a dog-friendly policy, and you’ve got a gym that feels like a living room for climbers.
