For the average elder member of Gen Z, Yelp is a digital relic, reminiscent of a bygone era in reservation culture. They'll favour apps like Beli and TikTok for culinary recommendations, establishing an alternative approach to dining where apps and influencers can become tantamount to seasoned food critics and Michelin guides.

Enter Beli
In 2021, Judy Thelen and Eliot Frost founded Beli, a Yelp/Instagram hybrid app that lets users log, rate, and rank restaurants they visit—and share it with their Beli friends. Launching first in New York, the app now totes a roster of restaurants across 30,000 cities, and the app has over 400,000 ratings across 6,000 restaurants, bakeries, bars, and cafes in Montreal alone.
