Au Coin arrived with the simple proposition of a neighbourhood café by day, wine bar by night, open seven days a week from early morning until the wee hours. Seems the Mile End immediately understood the assignment, because that address at the corner of Fairmount and Jeanne-Mance has been packed since mid-December.

The project starts with a solid team of Montreal hospitality: Nicolas Urli and Jean-François Gervais spent over fifteen years building Saint-Henri's BarBara into a destination for all manner of hot girl walks and lazy nights over wine; Mathieu Keyser, a longtime friend and a DJ and music producer in his own right, handles the business side while also running Double's. Sommelier Florence Pelland-Goyer, who previously helped shape Buvette Chez Simone and the long-closed-but-no-less-swish Bar à Flot, now curates the wine list and oversees front-of-house throughout the week.
