le cèr

Cor Oda and Kit King met when they independently produced the same painting, an origin story that says something essential about how they work. The Japanese-American and Bahamian-Canadian artists, both former tattoo artists turned internationally exhibiting painters, have built a practice that refuses to stay in any one lane: fine art, sculpture, furniture, lighting, homewares. In 2024 they opened Le Cèr in Old Montreal, a gallery and studio that functions as the fullest expression of that range. The objects on offer, handcrafted by the duo, share a sensibility rooted in raw materials and the presence of time: plaster pendant lights, stone-and-reclaimed-wood coffee tables, hand-carved sculptures, wabi ceramics. Prices run from $120 for a small dish to $11,000 for a sculptural work. Their pieces have appeared in Architectural Digest and Art Collector, and custom commissions are available for design professionals.
