Morgan Arboretum

A 245-hectare forest reserve on the western tip of the island, the Morgan Arboretum has been part of McGill University's Macdonald Campus in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue since 1945. The mature mixedwood forest is dominated by sugar maple, beech, and hemlock, with tree collections spanning species from Quebec and around the world. Some 170 bird species have been recorded here, along with 30 mammal species and 15 reptile and amphibian species. Nearly 25 kilometres of trails support hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The arboretum also runs educational tours and public outreach programming, and has been producing maple syrup from its sugar bush since its founding.
