La Rose des Sables

La Rose des Sables is a Tunisian restaurant on rue Beaubien Est in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, with occasional belly dance performances. The brick à l'oeuf is the house signature: thin pastry stuffed with mashed potato, mozzarella, tuna, and a runny egg. The main menu covers couscous (lamb, chicken, merguez, vegetable, and the royal combining all three proteins), tajines in the same protein range, and gargoulette à l'agneau, lamb slow-cooked and marinated in a clay jar with spices, served with semolina and vegetables. The ojja is the dish worth singling out: a Tunisian egg and tomato preparation spicier and more loaded than shakshouka, available with merguez, shrimp, or mixed seafood. Kafteji (fried potato, peppers, tomato, egg, and merguez) and chakchouka round out the options. Mechouia salad, chorba, and brick to start; fine pastries to close. Table d'hôte and a tasting menu (brick à l'oeuf, six mezzes, lamb gargoulette, vegetable couscous, pastries) available. BYOW.
