Mitch Deli
About
Mitch Deli started as a pandemic takeout window at the record shop Le 180g before taking a room of its own on Beaubien, and it has held onto the same premise through a full redesign: a neighbourhood restaurant you can afford to hit more than once a week. Maxime Gagné owns it, and the kitchen is run by Miguel Chew, who cooked in Europe and was chef de cuisine at Hoogan & Beaufort. The menu is short, split between snacks, mains and desserts, and moves with what the small farms send, so BBQ oyster mushrooms with crispy chicken skin or pappardelle in carrot juice and chicken jus may not last the week. The fried chicken sandwich is the one fixture. Sommelier Tracy Baudry keeps close to 200 wines for 40 seats, and bottles go home at 20% off.
