Banh Mi Banh Yiu

Bánh mì Bánh Yiu is a tiny Mile End counter turning out sharp, balanced Vietnamese sandwiches at a steady clip. Owner Mikey Levy came back to Montreal after a stint in New York with a fascination for the bánh mì format—cheap, fast, and packed with flavour—and decided to build his own version on St-Viateur, drawing on years spent working nearby.
The menu keeps things focused: a short lineup of house-made fillings, from satay chicken to braised pork to chermoula tofu, plus salads, seasonal drinks, and cookies that sell themselves. The décor is a collage of colour, collectibles, and little references to Mikey’s Moroccan background. A small grocery corner rounds things out with snacks, drinks, and pantry items that see double duty in the kitchen. It’s a casual, everyday stop—straightforward, affordable, and very Mile End.
