La Maison Afghane du Kebab

La Maison Afghane du Kebab is a family restaurant on Chemin de Chambly in Longueuil. Abdul and his family have been running it since 2016, and the regulars have found their way there without much help once its reputation for good eats was cemented.
The menu covers serious ground. Start with the mantoo, hand-stuffed beef dumplings with lentil sauce and mint yogurt, or work through the entrée mixte if you want the full picture: mantoo, ashak, boroni, sambossa. Mains pivot around the charcoal grill: lamb, filet mignon, chicken, lamb chops, each arriving with basmati and Afghan brown rice. But the daily specials are where the kitchen shows its depth. The Qabeli Palaw, spiced brown rice with caramelized carrots, raisins, and a lamb shank, is Afghanistan's national dish, and this version earns that weight.
