Le Clocher Penché

Open since 1995, Le Clocher Penché occupies a former bank on Rue Saint-Joseph Est in Quebec City's Saint-Roch neighborhood, its original tile floors and woodwork still intact. What was once the vault is now the wine cellar, and an open kitchen sits where the teller counter used to be. Chef Mathieu Brisson, who came up through Toqué! in Montreal before settling in Quebec City, runs a daily market menu built around produce and proteins sourced from farms in the surrounding region. Charcuterie and boudin are made in-house; vegetable dishes rotate with the seasons. The wine list, assembled by sommelier Mélanie Lapierre, holds up its end without inflating the bill, which is part of what has earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Owned by Thomas and François Pellissier alongside Brisson, the room seats around fifty.
