The Saint-Henri bistro that made Air Canada's top 10 best new restaurants in 2023 is serving its last plates on December 20, 2025.
Bonheur d'Occasion, the 45-seat spot on Notre-Dame West that's been quietly killing it since it opened in 2022, announced it's closing after three years. The team posted the news on Instagram, thanking guests and staff who turned a neighbourhood restaurant into something worth driving across the city for.
"Avec le temps, vous êtes devenus bien plus que des clients—vous avez fait partie de notre histoire," they wrote. Over time, you became more than customers—you became part of our story.
It's not entirely goodbye. The announcement hints at a new project on the horizon, though details are still under wraps. Gauthier, who cut his teeth at Moleskine, Bouillon Bilk, and Butterblume before becoming chef at Tiers Paysage (a short-lived project that became Bon Service before becoming, finally, the bar Tittle Tattle), opened Bonheur d'Occasion with longtime friend Evelyne managing the dining room.
The restaurant also ran as Deli d'Occasion during the day, with pastry chef Victor Adnet handling the counter—serving sandwiches, charcuterie plates, and rotating pastries in the same space that transformed into a proper dining room by night.
According to the team, it's this project which may become their full focus: "We’re gonna do some (renovations) and move into a bigger and better deli space," they told The Main.
"Lots of it (is) still in the air (right now) but stay tuned for some exciting things to come."
If you want to say goodbye properly, December 20 is your shot. Final service, full send. And then? Whatever comes next.
