On April 9, the cast and crew of Mile End Kicks walked the red carpet at Théâtre Outremont ahead of the film's theatrical release next week, celebrating a love letter to the city's indie rock golden age.
Writer-director Chandler Levack drew from her years covering music to reconstruct a Montreal that most locals remember but nobody's quite captured on screen before: the early 2010s, when Mile End felt like the centre of the universe and everyone you knew was in a band. Barbie Ferreira stars as a young critic who arrives with a book idea about Alanis Morissette and leaves with something considerably messier.
Montreal actors Jay Baruchel, Robert Naylor, and Juliette Gariépy round out the cast alongside Devon Bostick and Stanley Simons.
