Originally built in 1889, Le Boating Club has lived many lives—from regatta hall to Laval landmark—and its current one doesn’t disappoint. Revived by a crew that includes designer Zébulon Perron (still doing some of the city’s best interiors), this three-storey space channels vintage prep with a wink: New England touches, mounted geese, a canoe suspended from the ceiling, and a basement social club complete with karaoke. The menu leans shareable and rich—tartares, gnocchi, cod with caponata, roast chicken spiked with sambal and maple—while the wine list sticks to organics and crowd-pleasers, served by a staff that actually seems happy to be there. Sure, it’s set just off a commercial stretch of Curé-Labelle, but the charm is real.
