LOOSENDS

About

LOOSENDS is the crochet label Bennett Tracz built out of an Instagram account he started with a friend between dance classes, named for the fact that Loose Ends was already taken. The brand works almost entirely in yarn spun from garment-industry offcuts sourced from manufacturers in Turkey, a method Tracz arrived at after making his first bag from an old t-shirt cut into strips. The Montreal shop carries finished bags and yarn alongside digital patterns and kits that bundle materials, a written pattern and a video tutorial. The kits are pitched at people who want to finish with an accessory they will actually carry rather than a practice square, a direct response to the beginner tutorials Tracz found frustrating while teaching himself. He trained as a contemporary dancer in Vancouver before moving to design full time.
