About

Jean-Christophe Yacono works out of a corner of the Cyclo Flex space on Saint-Denis, along the REV, and bills himself as an osteopath for bicycles, which is nearer to accurate than it sounds. The shop takes seasonal tune-ups and à la carte repairs, but the real interest is rehabilitation: returning a neglected or outdated bike to daily use, with salvaged and period-correct parts wherever supply and cost allow. From there it shades into full custom work, which can mean sandblasting, repaint, a new cockpit, different tires and whatever else matches how someone actually rides. Past builds include a 1983 Nishiki rebuilt around a frame bought for about $100 with its original derailleurs kept intact, a childhood Bianchi fitted with a front basket and wheel stars, and a 24-inch bike designed alongside its ten-year-old owner. No e-bikes, cargo bikes or tandems. Work is by appointment, with pickup available.
