La Belle Corée

About
On Fairmount Ouest in the Mile End, La Belle Corée has been chef-owner Brian Lee's expression of the home-style Korean cooking he grew up with since opening in October 2018. The room seats around 70, with a long bar well-suited to soju, dark woods and warm lighting, and a summer terrace. The menu is broad and confidently executed. Grill sets come with rice, salad, and three banchan, spanning dakgalbi, bulgogi, jeyuk bokkeum, samgyupsal, LA galbi, and dakganjeong. The jjigae section covers soondubu, kimchi, budae, ttukbaegi bulgogi, and gamjatang. Soon sal dak, boneless Korean fried chicken in original, sweet and spicy, or soy garlic, with a half-and-half option, is its own dedicated section. Dolsot bibimbap, japchae, tangsuyuk, jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, and a kimchi poutine fill out the mains. Pancakes, mandu, tteokbokki, and corn cheese handle the starters. Homemade teas including sikhye, ginseng, and yuja alongside soju, sake, beer, wine, and cocktails at the bar.
