Le Colonel Moutarde

About

Named for the Clue suspect, funded by a crowdfunding campaign that cleared its target by a wide margin, and designed from the start around the problem of eating while playing. Plates are long and narrow so they perch at the edge of a board. Tables have holes cut into them to hold glasses, which spares the cards when someone wins loudly. There are no televisions anywhere. The library runs to roughly 500 titles, from filler party games to long strategy sessions, and staff known here as game sommeliers will read the table and teach the rules of whatever fits. Food stays in snacking range: tacos, a mac and cheese buried in Doritos crumble, a roasted Brussels sprouts Caesar, bowls of popcorn and jujubes. The bar is more serious than it has to be, down to an Old Fashioned built on mustard syrup. No reservations.
